“The ‘other design’ is not something we are imagining, it already exists”
Yayra Agbofah is a Ghanaian creative entrepreneur, environmental advocate, and Founder of The Revival Earth Organization, a community-led circular fashion initiative based in Kantamanto Market in Accra, one of the largest second-hand clothing markets in the world. His work focuses on tackling global textile waste through upcycling, education, recycling and building inclusive systems that create livelihoods for local traders, artisans, and youth.

Working at the intersection of fashion, sustainability, and social impact, Yayra collaborates with communities to transform discarded garments into new products while reimagining the future of fashion from the ground up. His work highlights Kantamanto not as a dumping ground, but as a living ecosystem of circularity, creativity, and resilience.
Yayra is a TIME 100 Climate Leader (2025), What Design Can Do Challenge (2024) and a winner of the H&M Foundation Global Change Award. Through The Revival, he continues to advocate for a more equitable and regenerative global fashion system.
“In places like Kantamanto. In the Global South, circularity is not a concept but a daily practice shaped by necessity, creativity, and survival. Our work is about recognising, strengthening, and learning from these systems, rather than imposing new ones.
