gt2P

gt2P is a studio based in Santiago, Chile, whose work occupies an expanded territory between public art, architecture and design. Founded in 2009 by Guillermo Parada, Tamara Pérez, Sebastián Rozas and Víctor Imperiale, the studio has developed the term “paracrafting” as a form of practice that dissolves the boundaries between craft, technology and material culture.

Rather than producing objects, gt2P builds systems of relationship in which design and production are understood as a continuum, giving rise to families of things. Their projects emerge from a sustained attention to processes that operate across both the natural and the technological. Within this context, Remolten (2016–) constitutes a foundational body of work: through the collection of volcanic lava from the Andes, the studio activates a chain of operations that holds in tension the primitive and the contemporary, the geological and the computational.

Their public installations, such as Conscious Actions, unfold these explorations at urban scale, incorporating the body and the environment as agents of the work.

gt2P’s work has been exhibited widely across the world and is held in permanent collections at some of the most influential institutions globally, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, the National Gallery of Victoria and the London Design Museum.
