Cristina Pérez is a lawyer and doctor in human rights philosophy. She drives alliances and social transformation strategies at Mi Valedor, and oversees artist engagement at the New Modern Art District in Mexico City.

“At Mi Valedor we use design as a tool to channel the talent and ideas of those experiencing social exclusion in Mexico City. Our collective’s products are proposed and made by people living on the streets or at serious risk of homelessness. From there, we collectively question dominant narratives and reimagine the social system. We believe our participation in WDCD 2026 will be especially relevant given its focus on Designing from the Global South.”
