Alexis Georgacopoulos is director of ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne.
ECAL is internationally renowned as one of the most influential art and design universities in the world, attested by the success of its graduates, numerous press articles and awards, significant collaborations with global institutions and brands, and many exhibitions in prestigious venues all over the world.
Trained as a product designer, Alexis Georgacopoulos took up the position of Director of ECAL in July 2011. Since, he has initiated award-winning projects as well as reference publications and exhibitions such as “ECAL Photography”, “ECAL Graphic Design”, “The ECAL Manual Of Style” and recently “ECAL A Typographic Atlas”.
In the last years, ECAL has collaborated with institutions and global brands such as Audemars Piguet, Google, Hermès, Jean-Paul Gaultier, La Prairie, Moncler, Vitra, Yamaha, On Running…
Alexis participates in international jurys and and lectures in well-known institutions around the world, presenting ECAL’s unique approach on art and design education. Among other recognitions, Wallpaper* magazine named him one of the “100 most influential persons in the world of design”
