‘I would like to challenge all the creative brains out there in the world, actually to do something good for refugees all around the world.’ In a new video IKEA’s head of design Marcus Engman, who is one of the most influential profiles within design worldwide, calls upon the global creative community to come into action for people who are forced to flee their homes and countries.

‘Design to me means the ability to change things for the better. I think we could do a lot for refugees when it comes to design actually,’ Engman says in the video that encourages designers around the globe to join the WDCD Refugee Challenge. Engman is member of the jury that in June will decide which five projects will receive a 10,000-euro budget for further development.

Engman defines the task of the contestants as ‘to create better living situations for those who really have small means’ adding that this is ‘a big task, but let’s do it together.’
