Trained as an industrial designer and with a Master’s in Conceptual Design from Design Academy Eindhoven, de la O is the creative force behind delaO design studio. It has an epistemological approach to design in which it studies its role in society and visualizes the future possibilities of how technology could impact society.

As regional director of the School of Architecture, Art, and Design of the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City, de la O constantly contributes to the dissemination of knowledge and design literacy. Through its academic programs, it has collaborated with The Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, Ikea’s Home Smart division, The Global Design, and Innovation department at MIRO, and other NGOs and institutions. In 2022 he was awarded Designer of the Year by the Mexican Design Fair and Rimowa.

As a product designer, de la O has collaborated with local and international companies such as Philips Design in the Netherlands, Space10 in Denmark, and Mirai Innovation Lab in Japan, designing lighting, furniture, and home products and participating in advanced industrial design.

De la O is a co-founder and active member of Cooperativa Panorámica, directs the design-driven cultural initiative The Chair that Rocks, is the creative director of his design brand delaO.shop, and co-produces the Spanish-language design podcast Fuera de Contexto.

His work has been exhibited at the Milan Design Fair, Dutch Design Week, The Future Perfect in New York, the Design Museum in Taipei, the Shanghai Glass Museum, the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, the Museum of Decorative Arts, Berlin and the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City.
