This project responds to one of Africa’s biggest burdens: wastewater. OmiFlo have created a hydroponic system that turns wastewater into lush greenery. The design cleverly grows aquatic plants in floating structures, which act as natural filters.

The result is a dense green mass which takes in oxygen from the air and injects it into the wastewater through its roots. Building and running the system does not require any electricity, chemicals, or significant gardening experience. That means that anyone can create treated water, thereby preventing groundwater contamination, restoring healthy bodies of water and offering new sources for irrigation systems.
