What Design Can Do is looking for a corporate fundraiser

Introduction

What Design Can Do (WDCD) is an international foundation that seeks to accelerate the transition to a sustainable, fair, and just society using the power of design. Based in Amsterdam, with hubs in São Paulo, Mexico City, Delhi, Nairobi, and Tokyo. Our vision is a world that is sustainable, inclusive, just, and safe, and we believe in the problem-solving power of design to get us there. Our mission is to empower the global creative community to make a valuable contribution to solving the major problems of our time. WDCD’s team members contribute to this mission with their own expertise and creative power, and that’s where you come in.

THE role

The Corporate Fundraiser leads our work to increase philanthropic engagement with a focus on the business world. This position sets development strategy, designs and implements action plans and mutually beneficial programmes. The Corporate Fundraiser has the drive to accomplish goals, actively reaches out to corporations and/or their foundations and uses their flair to build sustainable relationships. Also ensures agreements, actions, revenue goals and progress reporting are followed up on.

We are embarking on an ambitious campaign to expand our impact on design and contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goals. The role of the Corporate Fundraising Manager, which is a new position, is key to this exciting initiative. The right candidate will be able to start – and steer – successful initiatives and enjoys working at a creative organisation.

The Corporate Fundraiser will collaborate closely with and report to the Director of Global Development, who is primarily responsible for increasing our institutional fundraising. They will also work together with the CEO and other key members of the What Design Can Do team, because we see partnership building and corporate fundraising as a team effort.

You will be part of the Development Team and responsible for the corporate development and fundraising activities that support the execution of WDCD’s impact driven programs.

What will you do?

The Corporate Fundraiser is a key player in expanding WDCD’s development ambition and will:

  • Generate corporate leads and prospects that will lead to mutually beneficial multi-year corporate partnerships
  • Build a pipeline of medium and long term mission driven, strategic corporate partnerships
  • Achieve year-on growth of corporate partnerships against established targets
  • Proactively approach and propose corporate partnerships
  • Manage existing partnerships and build mutually beneficial long-lasting relationships
  • Develop compelling pitches and partnership propositions in both English and Dutch
  • Help prepare and participate in events and meetings to attract and build partnerships
  • Collaborate with the WDCD team as needed to develop and manage compelling corporate partnership proposals
  • Travel 30% of the time to engage with partners and/or visit events in various parts of the world
  • Report to and work closely with the Director of Global Development and the CEO
What are we looking for?

  • You can develop compelling proposals/pitches incl. budgets
  • You enjoy acquisition, new business development and entrepreneurship
  • You understand how to build and manage a pipeline of relationships and have worked with CRM systems
  • Results motivate you, and you are eager to forge success with a keen eye for team work
  • You have thoroughly familiarised yourself with sustainable development, CSR, ESG and/or climate action
  • You have an interest in, or experience with the sector of designers and creatives; also with sustainability and/or climate action.
WE OFFER

An interesting full-time position with career opportunities, in a creative social impact organisation with an international scope and inspiring network.
