Next Gen Design is a collaborative European programme that empowers young designers to contribute to the goals of the European Green Deal. Five leading design platforms from Amsterdam, Belgrade, Skopje, Barcelona and Vienna are joining forces in a three-year initiative that includes design competitions, residencies, and educational activities. The focus: supporting emerging talent, promoting circular design, and sparking sustainable change within the design sector and beyond.
At WDCD Live Amsterdam, the Next Gen Design programme will take centre stage with a dynamic line-up of activities:
- Residency in Amsterdam
Ten European challenge winners will take part in a one-week residency programme in Amsterdam, designed to foster exchange, growth, and collaboration.

Explore all 52 winning projects of the European design challenge in a vibrant exhibition showcasing creative, bold and practical ideas for a more sustainable future.
6 June – The Hub – Pakhuis de Zwijger - Edu Talks
Three powerful talks by inspiring voices who reflect on the role of young designers in shaping a just and climate-resilient world:- Thami Schweichler – social entrepreneur and founder of Makers Unite
- Mary Nyaruai Mureithi – Kenyan changemaker and founder of NYUNYI
- Monish Siripurapu – Indian architect and climate innovator behind Ant Studio
6 June – Grote Zaal – Pakhuis de Zwijger
With these activities, Next Gen Design highlights a new generation of creative thinkers using design as a force for climate action and positive transformation.
