Since Flüchtlinge Willkommen started in Germany in November 2014, the website that provides refugees with shared housing, nine countries followed suit and 531 refugees were matched to shared flats.

The initiators of Flüchtlinge Willkommen (Refugees Welcome) want to fight the fear and hesitation of people to offer their spare rooms to asylum seekers. The video shows that things can workout pretty well.

A recent story in The Guardian of a woman in Manchester who offered a room to a refugee – unrelated to Flüchtlinge Willkommen – spreads the same message. Still, NGOs that warn for hasty decisions in this respect do have a point.
