Richard van der Laken is the co-founder and creative director of What Design Can Do (WDCD), a global platform that champions the power of design for social change. With a background in visual design, he co-founded De Designpolitie, a studio known for its bold, idea-driven work, before launching WDCD to challenge designers to tackle pressing global issues through creative innovation.

Under his leadership, WDCD has launched impactful design challenges, publications, and events in Amsterdam, Brazil, and Mexico, bringing together a global network of creatives and changemakers. Beyond WDCD, Richard is a sought-after speaker, sharing his vision on design and social impact at events worldwide.
