Isa Grutter (b. 1993) is an Amsterdam-based artist and illustrator. Her work explores themes such as transition, solitude, and the contrast between light and dark, often set in everyday spaces like gas stations, airports, and cities at night. With a clear and expressive line, she captures both movement and stillness, seeking subtle moments of meaning and humor.

Isa is a frequent contributor to De Groene Amsterdammer, where her illustrations accompany in-depth journalism and essays. Through her visual storytelling, she brings a distinct perspective to complex topics, combining atmosphere with sharp observation. She has also created editorial illustrations for de Volkskrant, alongside album covers, murals, and personal projects such as her book Werktitel: Mens (2020).

Isa is part of an artist duo with Mick Johan. Together, they are currently working on their second solo exhibition, which will be shown in Tokyo.

Isa is a speaker at the workshop Inside the Editorial Room – Visual Storytelling in Journalism  during the afternoon programme of WDCD Live on 6 June at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam.
