ER Ocean Recherche’s work centers on developing sustainable alternatives through two main product lines. The first is SeiYarn™, a biodegradable, ocean positive fiber derived from seaweed. Designed for both versatility and performance, the fiber is recyclable, naturally antimicrobial, and dope dyed to ensure long lasting color without water intensive processes. Its controlled fiber length, ranging from 3 to 8 centimeters, makes it suitable for ring spinning and air jet spinning, while the option to shorten it allows compatibility with open end spinning, enabling flexible yarn production and ultimately making it possible to craft clothing from seaweed. The company’s second material, SeiShell™, is a coated canvas that serves as a leather alternative and represents a natural evolution of SeiYarn™, which forms its backing.
