Pete Hellicar has been riding skateboards, drawing, making and playing music for over 25 years. In 1997 he co-founded one of the UK’s first independent Skate companies, Unabomber Skateboards. As a skater and designer at Unabomber he produced boards, films and apparel featuring the work of Pete Fowler and Will Sweeney among others.

In 2001 he moved to California and became the Art Director for Etnies Worldwide. He brought his skate aesthetic to Etnies and was responsible for the re-imagining of Etnies advertising and visual branding.

In 2004 he returned to the UK and started his own studio working in everything other than skateboarding. His decision being driven by the realisation that skateboarding was something that was better kept as a personal experience and not one to be sullied by business.

Helicar has continued to work as an artist and creative director both in his own company as well as a consultant for many organisations. Having recently formed a new venture Hellicar Studio ADT he has started to work with a new team of artists, designers and coders to explore the creative spaces provided by the combination of Art, Design & Technology. The new studio’s focus is on combining the mixed experience gained from 25 years of creating environments both technical and physical.

Skateboarding is never far away, though, and his recent project for skateboard shoe company Vans (House Of Vans London) has received international acclaim gaining multiple awards for innovative re use and design.
