If you ever saw the award winning animated movies Coco, Incredibles II, or Toy Story 4, you’ve seen the work of Nicole Ridgwell. The Bay Area based 3D character animator currently works at Pixar on the company’s latest production.
While still studying at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Ridgwell worked as an intern at Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar before starting her career at Nickelodeon in 2015. At different studios she has worked on a wide variety of projects ranging from TV to virtual reality, which is why her animation style is so eclectic. Her work ranges from stop motion and hand drawn, to polished computer-generated feature styles. In a commercial for Tinder some of these skills came together.
In addition to her animation work, Ridgwell is a musician in her band Sioux City Kid and an independent filmmaker. In the meantime, she is in the process of developing her own mini-series, called Georgia and the Singing Mountain.
