As Director of Product Design, Javier Verdura currently works at Tesla in Los Angeles. So far he has worked on a variety of projects, from vehicle components, to the design of the companies’ Superchargers, and most recently responsible for leading the design of Tesla’s groundbreaking Solar Roof and associated Powerwall.
Born in Mexico City, Verdura graduated from Art Center College of Design with a degree in Product Design in 1991. His first position was as a Product Designer at Group Four Design, an award winning New England firm. Later he joined INNO as Design Manager and while in Atlanta, he also became a part-time professor of Industrial Design at Georgia Tech’s School of Design and Architecture. In 1998 he joined the then start-up firm Product Ventures, where he remained for 15 years as Vice President of Design and Development.
Over his 25 year career, Javier has designed everything from surgical equipment to consumer products and packaging, amassing more than 130 patents in the process. He has also been recognized by his peers by winning some of the industry’s most prestigious awards: 3-time Red Dot winner, Multiple Industrial Design Excellence (IDEA) and Good Design Awards.
