As founder of Innofest, Anna van Nunen is entirely into bringing together innovation, sustainability and the world of festivals. Innofest uses festivals as living labs for innovation testing, providing a safe and contained environment for prototype testing.

Van Nunen understands that a festival is an environment with the same challenges we face in society, but on a smaller scale. Just like in the city, at a festival we have the same basic needs: food, water, waste and energy. This is a unique environment for startups, SME’s and knowledge institutions to thoroughly test their concepts at a small, city-like replica.

Last November, Innofest was granted the European Enterprise Promotion Award for best initiative for entrepreneurs in Europe in 2017. Van Nunen was part of the ‘Young Sustainable 100’ and FD’s ‘entrepreneurial talent’. She studied Social Psychology in Utrecht and previously worked as a consultant in the fields of social entrepreneurship, start-ups and sustainability.

Recent research done by the University of Groningen shows that, for several reasons, innovation testing with the Innofest method contributes to the successful marketing of a product. Festivals are an ideal space to test the way we consume, behave, and relate with one another.
